IS IT WORTH IT?
Helping you find the best olive oil for your budget
This isn’t about finding the fanciest olive oil out there. It’s about helping you discover great quality without overspending. With so many options in stores and online at all kinds of price points, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Is it worth it? was created to take the stress out of shopping for olive oil and to help you feel confident that you’re getting something special tailored to your budget.
HOW IT WORKS
HOW IT WORKS
There is a method to the madness.
First, each oil is broken down into its cost per 100ml to make sure we are accounting for the true cost of the oil (as many products come in different sizes).
Then, each oil is graded on a scale of 1-10 in 6 different categories: aroma, flavor profile, pungency, finish, packaging information, and value for the price.
Those scores are totaled and then assigned an ultimate ranking.
I only rate oils that I’ve purchased at full price myself, don’t participate in any affiliate marketing, and have no vested interest in any olive oil company. I try and keep this fair and square.
Aroma
How unique and aromatic is the bouquet?
Flavor Profile
Is it one note or a symphony of flavors?
Pungency
Just how bold is the oil itself?
Finish
Is there a bite that lingers after you’ve tasted?
Packing + Info
Transparency is key: how much do producers share about the oil, its chemical analysis, and its harvest? Also, are they making sure it isn’t in a clear or plastic container?
Value for Money
Based on all the other categories, how does it stack up against the price they’re charging?

Why I’m qualified
In 2009, I started an olive oil importing business. For five years, I helped families harvest olives in Tuscany while also importing some of the best olive oils in the world. After trying hundreds of oils, and working with some of the most prestigious producers in the world (like Frantoio Franci), I’ve come to develop an expertise in finding a quality oil.
While I’m not in the olive oil business anymore, I’m still very passionate about all things EVOO. Sharing my knowledge of how you can find a great oil, while making sure that you can find a good value as well, is something I absolutely love.
When I’m not trying and ranking olive oils, you can find me working my normal job in the mortgage business, hanging out with my wife and our pets while cooking up a storm at home, cycling, or playing bocce ball.
